The town of Waiau, which has a population of about 400 people, has held a "Dead Rbbit Toss" for years, but town officials said this year's event has been dropped. The decision came after criticism from the Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Of course, the town is outraged; not over the fact that the rabbit throw was taking place in the first place, but that it had been canceled. It's just another example of humans thinking that they have the right to do anything because they consider themselves at the top of the food chain.
Watch a video report. It should be noted that this is a morning "infotainment" show, not a news program.

Paul Henry is the man I agree with him PC BS has gone too far in this country who really cares if you throw a dead animal, I would not like if someone throws me when I die!
Well Aren’t rabbit’s just rodents anyway? No normal human cares about a rabbit.
Well fact is that the rabbit throw was taking place in the first place, but that it had been canceled..thanks
It is nice to finally find a website where the blogger knows what they are talking about. Thanks

There dead. How is it cruel to throw something dead. I had tickets to this event and now my holiday is ruined. I packed a bag full of dead hare and everything. I think this is without a doubt the best contest I have ever heard of. I sure hope they reinstate it soon.
it sound like you wouldn't find anything wrong with throwing dead people or their pets either right? If you kill the rabbitt to eat it, fine but to kill them and waste the meat, sounds ignorant to me
I just find it odd that this town only has 400 people living in it and this is what unites them on a yearly basis..
I read the story but I don’t remember them saying they waste the meat. I don’t know what the hell they do with the worthless rodents when the fun is done
YOU'RE THROWING AROUND DEAD RABBITS. How is that at all supposed to be fun?! I mean, that's just sick and wrong
How ridiculous..!!They take the throwing of dead rabbits as event...Thank god its finally cancelled now..
Its just ridiculous to hear that.Humans think that they have the right to do anything because they consider themselves at the top of the food chain.
