Traffic Stop Turns Fatal as Man's Neck is Broken

In Livingston, LA, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office has released dash cam video of a traffic stop in which a man was killed, his neck broken, when a deputy tried to restrain him. The office added that it felt its deputies followed procedure.

The dash cam video shows Deputy Chris Sturdivant of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office attempting to restrain Adam Stogner, 42, with a hold around his neck. Sturdivant suspect Stogner of attempting to hide a drugs in his mouth.

Stogner died, with preliminary results from the coroner showing that he died from “severe coronary artery disease, an enlarged heart, and a fracture of the hyoid bone in his neck.” Hyoid bone? Anyone watch those forensics shows. The hyoid bone is usually fractured when someone is strangled to death.

According to WAFB,

"He was appropriate in his actions. He followed departmental protocol in trying to arrest a subject who tried to resist."
It's true that Stogner was resisting, but does that mean the deputy is totally innocent of any wrongdoing? You be the judge.
