Former NFL QB Steve McNair Found Shot to Death
The last few weeks have been a seeming perfect storm of celebrity deaths. On Saturday, another one, with former NFL QB Steve McNair, 36, reportedly dead of a gunshot wound.
Steve McNair played for the Houston Oilers, who eventually became the Tennessee Titans. His first season was 1995, and he was dealt to the Baltimore Ravens in 2006, but retired last season. He was named co-MVP of the league in 2003, sharing the award with Peyton Manning, throwing for 3,215 yards and 24 TDs with only 7 INTs.
Police said that Steve McNair received a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville. A female victim was also found dead of a gunshot wound. Police note that the woman has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.
Darren Rovell had reported that WSMV said the double homicide was actually a murder-suicide, with Steve McNair's wife murdering him, then killing himself. Later however, he tweeted that WSMV has backed off that theory.
Later reports indicate the woman was 20-years-old, a woman named Sahel Kazemi. The Tennessean is reporting that the two had been dating. Police found the pistol near Kazemi's body on the floor of a condominium rented by McNair.
Steve McNair married Mechelle Cartwright in June 1997. They were sweethearts at Alcorn State, where he attended college. He was drafted number three overall in 1995.
