Couple With 16 Kids, 12 Adopted, Found Shot Dead
A couple with 16 kids has been found dead in Florida. Byrd and Melanie Billings were found shot to death Thursday night in their bedroom of their home in Beulah, FL, just west of Pensacola near the Alabama border.
Byrd and Melanie Billings' 16 children included 12 adopted children. The family lived in a nine-bedroom rural home. In a 2005 story the couple said they wanted to share their wealth with children in need, but that they did not imagine their family would grow so large. Melanie Billings said:
“It just happened. I just wanted to give them a better life.”The murders of Byrd and Melanie Billings are believed to be as a result of a home invasion. Worse, while the couple was murdered, their 16 kids were also in the house; at least one found the dead bodies, as a neighbor was informed of the killings by one of the children.
According to reports, the murders happened around 7 PM. Shortly thereafter, a neighbor called 911 after being informed of the shooting by one of the children.
Byrd and Melanie Billings were both shot multiple times. There was, however, a surveillance camera in place, and because of that, police have a picture of an old red van that was captured on video. As well, police are reportedly looking for three white males.

16 kids? Must have been a double suicide
Wow...harsh of you to say...that's not even funny in my opinion...
Just a wild guess on my part, one of the kids was doing drugs and somehow got in with the wrong crowd and suddenly there is a home invasion robbery that maybe or maybe not went wrong.
If I am wrong than my apologies to all 16 children, who have unfairly lost both of their parents, otherwise my condolences to 15 of the 16 children.
