Historians: Lincoln Top President Overall; Bush: 36

It's President's Day, and what better day to hold a presidential ranking survey? This is C-SPAN's second "Historians Presidential Leadership Survey," first done in 2000.

The presidential ranking is done using the following individual leadership categories:
  • Public Persuasion
  • Crisis Leadership
  • Economic Management
  • Moral Authority
  • International Relations
  • Administrative Skills
  • Relations with Congress
  • Vision/Setting An Agenda
  • Pursued Equal Justice For All
  • Performance Within Context of Times
Abraham Lincoln finished first in the 2000 presidential ranking, and finished first again. George Washington and FDR swapped places; FDR dropped to #3 while Washington rose to #2.

George W. Bush falls in at #36, so amazingly to some, there are several Presidentials with rankings less than his. They are: Millard Fillmore, Warren G. Harding, William Henry Harrison (because of pneumonia, he had only about a month in office), Franklin Pierce, Andrew Johnson, and James Buchanan.

Readers, what would your presidential ranking be? Feel free to comment.

I find it strange that George Washington is up around second or third place as best presidents this country had. If people knew that he sold out to the British, in the amount of well over a million in gold each year, by allowing the British to board American merchant ships, during a time we were at war with the British to search for enemies of Britain.
That alone I would think would change the opinions of the American people when they cast their votes for the best presidents. There is also the fact that he left Thomas Payne in the French prison for he knew that Thomas Payne knew of his agreement with the British.

I also find it odd that Andrew Johnson was so low on the popularity vote. Yes, he was impeached, but why he was impeached everyone seems to forget. Actually I feel that Andrew Johnson, our seventeenth president, was one of our finest presidents, because he stood up to our corrupt bureaucrats and gave the people of this country the right to vote.
That’s what got him impeached. He did not have the backing as his predecessor and good friend Abraham Lincoln, so they were able to turn the people against him and get him impeached.

History:
The original writing of the Declaration of Independence, that was written by Thomas Payne and re-written by his friend Thomas Jefferson, and gets credit for writing the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson was one of five people appointed to write a Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson knew that his friend had already written a Declaration and Thomas Payne gave him his copy.
This has all been proven in a book, called America’s Godfather by Joseph Lewis.
This was done through expert hand writing analysis.
Getting back to Andrew Johnson:
The original writing of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Payne had the abolishment of slavery, the equalization of women’s rights, and the right to own land.
Our founding fathers did not want these items in it, so they were removed.
The right to own land was the one that scared Continental Congress the most. So much so, that they impeached a president a hundred years later.
If you saved money to buy land, but you worked for somebody as a serf by cleaning out a stable, or what ever, you did not have the right to buy land. For if you owned land then you had the right to vote, and only a gentleman had the right the right to vote.
Andrew Johnson, the 17th. President change all this and gave us our freedom to own land.
Based on these facts, how would you now rate Andrew Johnson?
There are other reason why this and other important histories are not taught in school.

Very strange results indeed.

I would imagine that many of the polled historians were blinded by their Republican affiliation.
