McCain Admits Computer Illiteracy

it's interesting that this video has been around for some time, but I haven't really heard much about it, and had to have a friend bring it to my attention.

Obviously I don't think we should choose a president solely on the basis of his computer literacy, but it is rather a sad statement on our government. More on that later. The following Yahoo! Election video shows that most GOP candidates prefer the PC.

Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul prefer the PC, and Mitt Romney has one as well, but he says he's going to switch to Mac because of his sons' preference. When McCain was asked, he said:

Neither. I am an illiterate that has to rely on my wife for all the assistance I can get.

Now, as I said, there's more to it than that, but I've commented on the age of many in our government before, not just McCain. And how things like computers and the Internet escape the knowledge of people who can write legislation affecting them (like Ted Stevens and his "tubes").

Many of these people are as old as our grandparents. Would you want your grandparents running the country. Personally, there should be an upper-age-limit on government officials. Once these guys get in, if they are not term'ed out, they keep winning no matter how senile they become.

You can't expect me to believe Strom Thurmond was "all there" toward the end of this career.

I actually don't think computer usage is important for a leadership position: http://lowtechtimes.com/2008/06/22/john-mccain-a-low-tech-candidate-for-president/
