Teacher Has Sex with Student to Help Overcome His "Shyness"
Well, after my last story about the boy accusing a teacher of choking him - denied by the school - here is a story that is definitely a case of a teacher being "in the wrong." And for some reason, so many of these types of stories seem to come out of Florida, as here.
Stephanie Ragusa, 28, above, broke her foot and was confined to a wheel chair in 2006, and the boy was assigned to escort her around the school.
Ragusa told the boy that she noticed he was "shy and she could break him of that," a search warrant application stated. Then, it said, she invited him to go to her apartment after school instead of attending an after-school program.
At her apartment, they had what the boy described to police as "consensual" sex.
Their sexual relationship lasted from October, 2006 to May 2007, detectives said.
To prove the point, the boy described to detectives two tattoos in Ragusa's groin area that would only be visible without clothes, as well as a gecko on her back. Ragusa faces five felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery, one for each sexual act involving the boy, who was 14 at the start of the relationship, and turned 15 as it continued.

This wasn't "consensual" sex, this was rape. Statutory rape, the same as if a male teacher would have been caught having "consensual" sex with a 14 year old girl in his class. Yet nowhere in this article is there any mention of the word rape, despite the fact that it is exactly what happened here.
Um, rape implies that one party forced the other into having sexual relations. If the boy was not forced and he's openly admitted that its consensual, then it is.
The problem with these kinds of issues is that it perfectly highlights the immaturity of the average American and how gung-ho we are to protect the rights of those who either don't won't those rights protected or don't care.
In this case, if the boy was fully aware of what was going on and wished to still engage in the activity - more power to him. He's at an age where he's more than capable of making such decisions and if charges should be pressed, he should also be at the gunpoint of the law.
Actually Jonathan, Statutory rape is most likely the case here. Statutory is not necessarily forced, but can be called consentual with a person who is unable to make decisions. In this case, legally, the boy is not entitled to make the decision on his own, that is why most underage marriage laws require the consent of a parent, or guardian.

Perhaps underage consensual sex would be a more accurate but less politically correct term in a case like this. What constitutes a legal age varies from state to state, just like the penalties associated with the war on some drugs. I find it hard to believe that a male teenager who returns time and time again for the pleasure of penetration is being forced, raped, or even abused. Real harm and scars, however, will result from the state's intrusion.
